Squad 5 responded with request from Prince Edward Vol. Rescue Squad for a 2 vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 460 & Holly Farms Farm in Rice, Va. Law Enforcement on scene advising 2 vehicles with injuries and trouble getting patient out of the vehicle due to an obstructed drivers side door. Company 5 responded to Washington Street in Meherrin for the report of smoke from a vent in a residence. Engine 5 arrived to find a single story structure with nothing showing. Investigation by members revealed no smoke or fire evident, that a heater was activated and caused the initial smoke. No further actions were taken. Units on the call included Engine 5, Tanker 5, Support 5, and Medic 5.
Company 5 Fire & Rescue along with Keysville Vol. Fire Dept, Charlotte Co. Sheriffs Office and Virginia State Police responded in front of the Keysville Drive Inn for a tractor trailer accident off the roadway. Units on scene encountered a diesel fuel spill, lines down, and significant damage to the tractor. Fuel spill was contained and the vehicle stabilized. No patient was found on scene. On November 4th @ 12:58 Company 5 - Meherrin (1st due) and Company 2 - Hampden Sydney (2nd due) were dispatched to the 13000 block of Farmville Road for a reported shed/barn fire. On October 30 @ 11:49 Meherrin Rescue was dispatched for a male with a possible CVA. On arrival of Rescue 5-8 the dispatch was confirmed and Life-Evac 1 was requested to launch to the Meherrin Heli-pad. Squad 5 arrived at the heli-pad @ 12:32 with Meherrin 505 (Lt. Taylor) in command. Life-Evac 1 was on the ground @ 12:58 and patient care was transferred. Command terminated the incident @ 13:06 and returned units to service. On October 19 Meherrin 505 (Lt. Taylor) ran up on a MVA on Farmville Road near Mud Dusty Road. 505 advised it was a single vehicle down an embankment with no injuries. Meherrin Fire was dispatched and Squad 5 arrived @ 07:17 with 505 in command. Command marked the incident under control @ 07:25 with the vehicle stable. On September 18th @ 15:24 Meherrin Fire was requested to secure the Meherrin Heli-Pad for Charlotte Rescue for a medical fly out. After Charlotte comfirmed they would use our pad Squad 5 arrived @ 15:42 with Meherrin 502 (Asst. Chief Pyle) in command. Pad was secured and Med-Flight 1 was on the ground @ 15:58. Squad 5 arrived to find one car with heavy fire coming from the engine compartment with vehicle being within 25 ft of two structures. On September 15 @ 15:38 a local citizen contact Station 5 reference to have a injured goat that had fallen down a dam. Squad 5 arrived @ 15:44 with 503 (Capt. Pyle) in command. Crews worked with the homeowners to assess the best way to move the goat. After assessing the animals injuries it was found that the best way to attempt to move the animal would be as he laid.
